If you live in South Africa you must be aware of the NYDA, NYDA stands for National Youth Development Agency and one of it’s onjectives is defined on its own name, that is youth development. Now, here are some of the NYDA opportunities youth should take advantage of.
1. NYDA GRANT PROGRAMME
The objective of the Grant Programme is to provide young entrepreneurs an opportunity to access both the financial and non-financial business development support to establish their survivalist businesses.
The programme focusses on youth entrepreneurs who are just coming into existence and beginning to display signs of future potential but not yet fully developed.
Just under 600 South African youth owned enterprises will benefit from the grant programme starting from R1000 to R100 000, while thousands more youth will access the non-financial business support services. Young people interested in accessing the grant programme will have to commit to participate in the NYDA mentorship and voucher programme for a minimum of 2 years.

2.NYDA Entrepreneurship Development Programme?

 
The Entrepreneurship Development Programme is aimed at creating a conducive environment for young entrepreneurs to access relevant entrepreneurship skills, knowledge, values and attitudes for their businesses.
 
The programme offers a package of entrepreneurship trainings that responds appropriately and adequately to the labour market and business needs of the young people.
 
What services does the Entrepreneurship Development Programme offer?
 
The Entrepreneurship Development Programme offers a range of services through the awareness and structured training programmes offered at the NYDA branches.
 
The awareness programme offers the following to groups of young people in communities or at the NYDA branches:
 
·        Basic Entrepreneurship skills
·        Characteristics of an Entrepreneur
·        Basic Business Requirement
3. National Youth Service
National Youth Service, also known as NYS, aims to provide long-term and effective ways of reconstructing South African society by developing the abilities of young people through service and learning.

• Inculcate a culture of service by supporting youth to participate constructively in nation-building;
• Promote social cohesion;
• Create understanding in young people of their role in promotion of civic awareness, patriotism and national reconstruction;
• Develop the skills, knowledge and ability of young people to enable them to make the transition to adulthood;
• Improve youth employability through opportunities for work experience, skills development and support to gain access to economic and further learning opportunities; and
• Harness the nation’s untapped human resource and provide a vehicle for enhancing the delivery of the country’s development objectives especially to disadvantaged and underserved communities.
4.NYDA JOBS Programme
What is the NYDA JOBS Programme?
JOBS is an online database for unemployed youth seeking employment opportunities. It is a product managed through the Skills Development and Transfer unit of the NYDA, and seeks to contribute to the Government’s ASGISA programme and the JIPSA initiative by helping to facilitate the link of unemployed youth to employment and other skills development related opportunities.
